Guest Spot: Sports Center

15 Jan

Good morning folks,

Here is another guest spot by Miss Michelle, the reigning sports Queen herself. Check it out:

____________________________________________________________________________________

There’s a meeting in my bedroom.

Well, well, well.. So much to cover yet not enough of an attention span to pay attention so I’ll make this as short and sweet as possible.

The last time we spoke I had just got 2k10 (PSN ID: Jennings-ariza), the season barely began and I had made some bold statements that I still stand behind, and most have been proven to be correct. It’s about the middle of the season and since the last time I had a guest spot at the lovely Ms. Neeks’ page A LOT has happened so here is a quick opinionated rant about what the hell is going on.

First thing is first. I am LIVID with the NBA! I don’t think I have to say much about why but I do have two words for you. Agent Zero.

Okay, I know what you’re thinking “How could a pretty girl like you condone such behavior?!” Lets be real guys. Do we really know what happened? Were you there? was David Stern there? NO. First off I’m not going to say having guns is right because it’s not. It’s flat out wrong and I not only feel that way about guns but also about violence, domestic violence, assault, drugs, and adultery so I don’t want to be looked at as some bias chick talking about the hottest subject. This is not something that should be glamorized. Nevertheless, personal is personal and ball is ball. How are you going to take out a leading scorer not because of the situation or the event that had occurred BUT because of personal views and comments about the situation made outside of the court. REALLY?! I am not angry because I am not only a fan of the wizards or Gilbert Arenas but because this situation could have been handled a lot better. First of all, if there is a problem like this when the FBI has to get involved and you decided to make the decision or even have the thought of suspension you should act on it right away until the situation is solved. You would think that’s logic right? But I guess not when it comes to David Stern. Is he really bigger then the game? The commissioner not only suspended someone who is still under investigation two weeks after the incident but he left the other individual untouched and released statements that I consider to be completely untrue and ridiculous. “(Arenas) Is currently unfit to be on the court” ARE YOU SERIOUS?! You have players like Delonte West (who plays for the Cleveland cavaliers) on the court that is a ticking time bomb. This season he was diagnosed as bi-polar and was caught coming from the Cleveland arena on a motorcycle with a shotgun in a guitar bag. ARE YOU SERIOUS?! You’ve got some nerve. It also raises some questions like If it were a high grossing player like Lebron James would the consequences be the same? Or If it were someone like Luke Walton who has a respectable father that’s part of the league would the consequences still be the same? Let me help you with that and let you know straight up the answer is NO.

NOW, I know you saw that Christmas game with Lakers vs. Cavs. Now, reeelllaaxxx you prince james bandwagoners just because the score is even or one-up does settle any argument. Lebron is NOT better than Kobe and if you actually paid attention you would know why. Besides, I have to give it up to my Lakers. It’s hard playing against two teams. Especially the highest paid in the league, the REFS.

Okay so I’m mid-way thru and I realize I’ve got a lot of ground to cover so I am going to split this into two. Right now there’s a meeting in my bedroom and I don’t want you to be late so take a breath. Breathe, stretch, shake and I’ll be back to talk about the NFL, more on Mamba vs. Prince, A’mare, Bosh, Granger, Dwayne wade, Denver, Ivy, All-star 2010, and FREE AGENTS.

Cya.

Guest Spot: 12 Play

6 Oct

Good Evening,

I haven’t had a Guest Spot in a minute and this one is a little different. With the fast approaching Basketball season among us, why not have a Guest spot every now and then from a different perspective? Without further adieu, here it is- a piece written by Michelle Spences-Lee.

12 Play.

I know what you’re thinking. Twelve play, you’re waiting for me to name all possible positions. To exploit my sexuality, leaving majority of the male readers intrigued and most of the women confused wondering, “What the hell are you talking about?!…Women have an opinion about this?” Well if that’s what you’re thinking, you’re correct. I’m going to name all possible positions and what I like to call the first “fore-play” moves in the NBA that aren’t or are satisfying that urge we ball’ heads fiend for.

Lets start by being a little more honest with our selves guys- going into the new season each team says they’re ready, they’re going to win, they got what it takes but honestly, let us be realistic. When the first five games are over and teams like Detroit, LA Clippers, and Chicago realize “Damn, we’re in over our head.” That’s when all the true colours begin to show. Chicago letting Ben Gordon go was a big mistake-Ben Gordon going to Detroit was a big mistake. Allen Iverson got what he needed, Chris Bosh is going to light it up, Emeka Okafor will finally catch a break and although I hate to admit it- Ron Artest might be a big mistake. I know these are big words but Ill explain the logic behind it. First of all I know Derrick Rose is an amazing player the statistics speak for themselves (PPG: 19.7; RPG: 6.30; APG: 6.4;) but alone, I believe the pressure will be too much. Maybe I’m crazy, maybe it seems like the ideal situation, playing for your hometown with all your family and friends they’re cheering you on, providing you with “constructive criticism”. I don’t know, I think without his right hand man there it will be very hard to carry a team on his own. He’s still a young player and has a lot of maturing to do. Maybe reading a book could up his confidence. Now, Mr. Ben “Jordan” as chi-town fans would call him, although obtaining that 55+mill. (Get that paper!) It’s evident that Detroit has no future. With the veterans gone and the alleged prince still gaming there’s a very slim chance of revival- which I aint mad at (Sorry D-Town).

Mr. Poison Ivy himself still has a chance- yea I said it! AI got the move he needed. I know he’s not making the money he once did, but he’s closer to a ring then ever. With a strong, young supporting cast and the space to do what he does best. I promise you, yes I promise, AI will bring it back to the hood and be a little bit closer. Maybe not this year but he should not give up!

Yea, yea, yea knock on Toronto all you want hell I know CB4 looks like the mascot but that’s not the point. The point for the Toronto forward is that there is serious money to be made. With Boshs’ contract up in 2010 he’s going to do whatever it takes to score those points, make those rebounds, and make those numbers sky high making him one of the most wanted players in the Nba. He has the experience, he now has the weight (he gained 50lbs during off season), and soon he will have the numbers to back his hype up. Toronto better be ready to offer what we have left to keep Bosh or we might see him in that red and black next to wade.

Emeka Okafor may have been the only one playing on the hardwood back in Charlotte but with CP3 on his right there is nothing there to stop him. Fullstop.

Oh my Lakers. My, my, my as a major laker fan (say what you want…2009 Champs!) It hurts my heart to admit that maybe we may have made a major mistake. We traded a 24 year old new comer for an almost 30 troublemaker. I have no doubt for a possible repeat because Phil Jackson is just that dude but damn. I guess its just question marks and a stiff drink from here.

Now I know this is a lot of opinion to take in from a chick that wears Nikes with a dress but breathe, I’ll leave it here for now. You’ll have to wait for me to take an acute break, test that 2K10, and find appropriate words to describe my feelings about Lebron James, the Boston Celtics, and the anticipation of Frankenstein’s son Blake Griffin. Until then watch summer league shots of Brandon Jennings, keep updated with pre-season games, and enjoy the Nba 2k10 takeover. Peace.

Indoor BBQ

9 Aug

I love summertime.

The BBQ’s, the people, the music, the food, the beautiful people, the food, the sexy people on their game. Shoot let me stop.

Yesterday, I went to a BBQ  hosted by Blake, Marvin and Tristan. It was a good time. Alot of jokes, a whole lot of jokes. I met some cool new people, thanks for the jokes.  Only took a couple of pics for some reason. Too bad the weather SUCKED, so it was more of an indoor thing but it was still cool.

Kinda Like a Big Deal

12 Jul

Good afternoon folks,

I’m so sick right now, it’s ridiculous. I’m a pretty tough girl, I can handle pain for the most part but something about a sore throat turns me into a big baby. I have some sort of chest cold and I’m NOT happy about it. Last night the fever-ish symptoms I had really were not a good look, yuck!

Anyhow, on Friday night I went out to a party called “Kinda Like a Big Deal” at Vola Lounge. The party started off kind of slow but once it got nice, it got real nice. The thing about that club (it’s the former Blurr Nightclub) it gets SOOOO HOT. I swear there is no form of ventilation in that spot, yikes. It was a sweat bucket, and since DJ Spoonz and Dj Rych Kidd were killing it everybody was wylin out. One of my highlights of the night was hearing “Summerbody Fit” in the club, I felt like a proud mama or something lol. Here are some pics, despite what one person thought I was not drunk. The height of my heels would not permit me to get drunk (I don’t get drunk anyway). Ladies you know what I’m talking about, your heel is so high that if you were to play around and get drunk that’s risking your whole life and ankles at that.

It’s it’s it’s the GUMBY

12 Jul

… just in case you never know!

As I mentioned before on Thursday night I attended the Blake Carrington show at the Drake Hotel with the rest of Torontofresh. The show started late since people do not know how to show up on time *tsk tsk*.  The show started with KJ and again he did the damn thing. If you still haven’t seen KJ perform, he’s the artist that hits the stage and has a such a cool confidence. The music is already hot but when he performs it, you feel it that much more. KJ will be performing July 18th @ Rollys Garage located at 124 Ossington Ave. Check him out!

….” lights camera action welcome to my movie, Blake Carrington is a smooth oppurtunity”.

Oh Blake, what more can I say that I haven’t already said. If you didn’t know, Blake will be heading off to LA for a little bit to be on his grind. This show was a slap in your mouth telling everyone “Don’t Sleep on me”. Word.  Blake did his thing as usual but tonight was so different. At times I stood there just staring up at him with a smile on my face. I had a strong sense of pride and admiration for him. It’s a beautiful thing when you know that someone you care about is on the verge of achieving their hopes and dreams. The set was amazing, he brought out Shane Tone for another smash performance of “Summerbody Fit” and the crowd went nuts. There was alot of family values as well as he also brought out his brother Keegan Da’niro (hey baby lol) and his DAD (De Dot) to perform. The love between Blake and Keegan and Blake and his father was so apparent. Kodak moments indeed.

The final portion of the show was quite nostalgic as the former members of BFDM (Brothers from Different Mothers) as well as some fellow artists got up on stage to show Blake some love and give him kind words. This lead into an encore performance of “Summerbody Fit” and then Blake spit a ridiculous freestyle.  That concluded the whole show, because really how could you follow up anything after that?

*I have about 200 pictures from this event so I may update some each day, we’ll see how I feel*

Change Clothes with the Fresh Family

4 Jul

Hola mi amigos/amigas,

How’s everybody doing? I’m doing oh so lovely, there is a “Sister, Sister” marathon on tv and it’s bringing back memories.  Do you all remember just how corny this show was? Woww.

Last night, myself and the Torontofresh family went out to the Fitting Room party at Dazzling Lounge.  Owwwweeeee it was a good party. The vibe was nice, DJ LRS & DJ Rych Kidd put it down. When I say put it down, I mean we were partying to Daft Punk, Modjo, Biggie, Destra, Machel, DJ Class, Serani and of course MJ. There was a little bit of everything for everybody. Definitely my kind of party.  Blake Carrington and Ron D held it down on the mic with minor distractions from groupie love. Good times for all!

I have to shoutout Miss Tameka Musiq(http://t-ismusiq.blogspot.com) that celebrated her birthday last night in the club. Hope you had fun mama.

The night was already live enough, then Shane Tone and Blake Carrington decided to perform their hit “Summerbody Fit“. Oh man, it was a wrap… except for one thing.

Soooo, Blake and Shane are from the Torontofresh camp so naturally we had to be at the front wildin out to the song right? If you see me vibing with my girls and we’re clearly doing our own thing do you think it’s appropriate to come and grab me up when I do not know you from Bob on the street? *Kiss teeth* So we’re dancing to the song, singing at the top of our lungs when some 5 foot nothing dude comes grabbing me up. He did it one time and I turned around and said “no thanks”  and I continued dancing. Instance number 2 he came a little more aggressive grabbing me and trying to wine up on me (by wine up I mean thrust like a dog humping a leg). Errrrrkssssssssss did I not just say “no thank you”, what are you slow?! At this point I am visibly annoyed because he’s throwing off my vibe with the song and downing my cheery mood. Don’t you think by the 2nd ‘no’ he would have realized I wasn’t having it? Apparently NOPE, because homeboy came back for a 3rd time grabbing me up. What did Neeks do you ask? The first thing that came to my mind, I pushed him against the Dj booth.  He looked at me as if I was on some kind of meth and his boy quickly came and said “Hey hey, no pushing” and I said “Tell your boy to stop grabbing me” as the little gremlin looked on as if he hadn’t done anything wrong. (Ron thank you for stepping in at this point♥). Seriously what comes over peoples minds? Do they temporarily lose it? Amnesia? What is it? I have no issues with people trying to dance with me, but there’s always a right way and a wrong way. Do not approach me and grab me up as if I’m property to you, it’s not a good look. Rant over.

Conclusion, if you weren’t there you missed out. I didn’t take many pics due to, I don’t know… the fun I was having I guess.

What a Night!

19 Jun

In continuation of my last post, this is how the night played out.  Upon leaving Curtis’ performance we headed downtown to meet up with Michelle and then head down to the other show.

This time we took in performances by Blake Carrington, Daniel Daley and KJ. Fabness indeed. This show had more of an intimate vibe which was great, all the performers had a good time interacting with their audience. The show started off with KJ, who again killed it. If you guys still haven’t caught one of his shows, you’re still slipping.

Blake Show June 16th 050

Next out the gate was R&B Crooner, Daniel Daley. He started off his set by singing his hit single “Girlfriend”, then had a heart to heart talk with the ladies before serenading with his song “Wanna be  Loved”.  After slowing it down with “Body Smile”, Daniel laughed and joked while imitating John Legend and doing a snippet of some Boyz II Men (hotttttt).  The crowd then began to chant ”…..4 play, 4 play, 4 play”, which lead to an impromptu performance with Ron D .  With that kind of love how could you deny such an eager crowd? That song concluded Daniels set.

Blake Show June 16th 063

By this point the crowd was already amped when Blake Carrington was called out to the stage. I’ll keep it short and sweet with this one, Blake did not disappoint. He kept us all moving, shaking and jumping. The man knows how to work the crowd. When Shane Tone came out to perform the banger “Summer body fit” it was already a wrap (look out for the dance coming soon).  The crowd was so live, it was ridiculous! Another great performance to add to Blakes already long list.

Blake Show June 16th 081

If the performances weren’t good enough, the night ended with a crazy jam. DJ James Redi and DJ Makem held-it-down! Oh my. We heard the likes of The Pointer Sisters, Diana Ross, DJ Class, Stevie Wonder, Daft Punk, Jay-Z, Curtis Blow, etc. Everybody just had a good ol’ time dancing the night away.

Another successful night in my books.

Shoutouts to: Tameka (I’m glad you took the time to come out mama, even though you missed the actual performances), Jesse (wuddup Blackie lol lol), Princess (again clothes are dope! Look out for her line y’all, it’s called “Alchemus”), Curtis (I’m shouting you out again, just cause you’re live lol).

It’s obvious I have to show love for Asia Fiasco, Mego aka the Cheetah Print Don, Willy T, Shane Tone and definitely not least Michelle. Y’all held me down for the night.

Check back in with me, because I have PLENTY of video’s from this night!

Blake C Show 10th 035Finally,I mean FINALLY. It is about damn time, I’m able to post up my official coverage from the show.

So without further adieu here is my scoop from the night.

If you didn’t know already the show went down at The College St Bar located on 574 College St, TORONTO on June 10th. Ron D had a big hand in putting on the this event (good work) making sure everything ran smoothly. The resident DJ’s of the night, DJ James Redi and DJ Makem held it down before and during the performances. The show started a bit late (damn black people lol) but it started off with a bang. KJ an up and coming rapper from Toronto opened things up. Now I’ve been hearing about KJ for a minute, but never had the chance to take in his music or see him perform live. I’m glad that I was given the oppurtunity cause he’s fire. He has a cool laidback vibe to him and his music reflects that.

Needless to say, I was impressed.

After his set, the main act came out swinging. Blake Carrington tore that joint down. If you guys are not acquainted with Mr Blake C, then you better get familiar. I’ve known Blake for years now and I must say he continues to grow into a better artist.  Blake captivates the stage each time he goes out there with his charm and charisma. You can just see the hunger in his eyes when he’s performing. The females were hanging on to his every word especially through his lead single “Dreamgirl” and the unreleased “Summer Body fit” feat Shane Tone. Throughout his set he brought out the likes of Rich Kidd, Keegan Da’Niro (my baby daddy lol) and KJ .  They all brought something special to the stage.

There was a good turnout *thanks y’all*. Special shoutouts to my fly homies Megz & Char (2/3 of the discombobulated tricks), Michelle (you kill me lol), Claire, Willy T, Adrian (still want those glasses), Tse, Alien, Kareem (where’s our pic?!) and Dale.

I finally got the chance to meet my namesake *Neeks*, oh my gosh that was a longggggg time coming. It was so nice to finally meet you in person. I swear I don’t think I’ve EVER seen someone so excited to see me lol. You the f’ing best!

It was relatively hard for me to get good pictures because I seemed to be pretty short in that crowd and there were alot of heads in the way. It was even HARDER for me to get proper video footage because Blake (and Shane) move around like madmen lol but regardless I made it happen.

Here they are enjoy! (Click the pics to enlarge them)

Discombobulated meets Torontof-f-f-fresh!

So this past Friday I headed downtown to meet with some of my fav crazy people. I met up with Steffie, Meg aka the Cheetah Print Don, Charlene Fiasco, Mr Torontofresh aka Ron D, Michelle (wuddup girl!), Chris Strikes, and of course Mr.Blake Carrington himself. We had a small meeting discussing the next project, which shall be the shooting of Blake Carringtons lead single “Dreamgirl”. If you haven’t heard it yet you’re slacking on your macking.  Download it here: www.zshare.net/download/6004000378b142e6/

So while we’re on the topic, I ask y’all …. “What’s your dreamgirl/dreamboy”?

Think about it realllll close. Remember alot of us “regular folk” can’t be Beyonce (even though I would love to lol) or Derwin Davis (can I say DAMN). So again what does your dreamgirl/boy represent?
